When a travel agency approached me to design its digital platform, the vision was clear: create a website where users could plan and purchase their entire journey from scratch—seamlessly, intuitively and confidently.

Simplicity, Beauty and Access

From the beginning, the foundation of the project was simplicity, beauty and accessibility. Travel should feel exciting, not complicated.

The design needed to be visually inspiring yet effortless to use, accessible to users of all ages and levels of digital familiarity. My goal was to remove friction and create an experience that felt natural from the first click.

Research & Process

My design process began with empathy. I conducted user interviews across multiple age groups and travel behaviours to understand:

One key insight stood out: while users often browse travel inspiration on mobile, the majority still prefer completing important bookings—especially flight purchases—on desktop websites. Trust, visibility of information and ease of comparison were major factors behind this behaviour.

This insight directly influenced the product strategy.

“Travel should feel exciting—not complicated.”

Design Strategy

Based on the research, I adopted a web-first approach. The platform was first designed in Figma, where I developed clear user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI and an accessible layout system with strong visual hierarchy.

The interface was intentionally intuitive and distraction-free. Since travel planning can already feel overwhelming, the design needed to feel calming and structured.

Once the desktop experience was fully optimised, I built a responsive system that adapts seamlessly across tablets and mobile devices—ensuring consistency without compromising usability.

Functionality & Implementation

To provide real value beyond visual design, we integrated external flight-search APIs so users could receive:

Users can search any origin and destination, instantly access the best available choices and proceed with one click to a trusted partner platform to finalise their booking smoothly.

Collaboration & Development

After finalising the design in Figma, I collaborated closely with developers to ensure the design system translated accurately into a fully functional web application.

The result was a functional, responsive platform balancing aesthetics, usability and real-time functionality.

Outcome

Geo Travel became a research-driven, user-centred platform designed to make travel planning simple, accessible, transparent and trustworthy.

This project reflects my belief that strong digital products are built not only on visuals, but on empathy, data and thoughtful collaboration.
